She's a Nut, He's a Nut and Oh My, not THOSE Nuts!
My 'baby' is off to college again for year two, has 11 classes (is she insane, oh wait...Who does she sound like???). The girls and I went south (the boys followed later in the car) for a welcome home party for my sis--she's home from Afghanistan-- mid-morning . We left 4 hours later to go north to college, arriving at 9:30 PM to move in (are we nuts or what?). It was late and we were tired before we started. On the plus side, we didn't have much competition for the trolleys and none for the elevators. Completed check-in, move in, set-up and showers by 11:30!!! Are we real women or what... Most of her friends had arrived and it was old home week for her. Left her Sunday evening, she was well supplied, I think we were both broke and me with my usual round of tears but huge amount of pride in my girl. She is really pushing herself and is focused on her completion. Lizard was a real trooper as well...Hard worker and lots of fun. It was a bitter sweet moment for us. The other kids started week two of school and are all doing well. Sam, who is finishing his Sr year, is also starting college; first day was today and I think he is really going to like it. He also got this awesome paintball gun which is faster then fast and had some great balling on Sunday, kept up with the college teams and is pretty sure he has a great chance of making his college PB team. Very too cool (he's a PB nut). On to know-it-all Tater, he now has 2 of the HS football games under his belt...Which, unfortunately for him, occurred literally tonight. Let's just say he is quite familiar with Mr. Ice Pack. It made for quite a humorous story and a well learned lesson...OUCH! As usual, school is totally cool for him. Then there is my baby...Sniff, sniff. My baby is in Jr High and loves every minute of it. Her classes are challenging (in a couple of HS classes and the rest are GT classes) and of course her favorite is to play sports. She is a rover and a half back...Just like her big brother. It's kind of neat to hear them talk and compare notes. Most interesting (and often amusing) is to hear the teachers and parents comments. She happens to have her brother's football coach for Algebra and was relieved to hear that the team had worked hard in tonight's game, in hopes that this wonderful man would be in a better mood tomorrow then he was after the teams last game. Tried a new wine tonight, a German Riesling. My favorite, a spatlese. A bit sweet, but goes oh so well with the lovely sounds of The Oscar Peterson Trio and Big Bad VooDoo Daddy...Two opposite sounds in the world of bluesy music, so maybe I'll round it out with some BB King...all enjoyable and relaxing after a crazed day at work...ahhhh, on to relaxation and then bed...
