Reunions
My sister is coming home! 1 more week, middle of the night, but she is coming home!!!
I can't believe how fast the summer is going...knee deep in summer sports and activites, mini-vacations (no big ones for this year because we travel to the Big Apple in November for the kiddos performance. Ok, that was my plug and bragging for the day! Well,maybe... Here it is four weeks from start of school and I can't believe it, seems like the kids just got out! I can't believe some people actually want year round school. That seems crazy! Any more when does a kid get to be a kid. Maybe for the kids who sit inside all the time. For the kids around here, it's a different story. Outside until the street lights are on (later if the moon is full or if special plans), crazy bike stunts, swimming and fishing, the library and movies and games on rainy days. It amzaes me how few kids do kid things. When we visit friends and family, the kids we run into seem to have their lives planned to the minute...I feel for the kids and their parents. Not that we don't have activities and schedules, just that summer time fun is pretty important. Why is this all coming up to me? Just spent a fabulous evening with friends and neighbors. Had the old block party, great attendance and a bang of a time! We had an age span of new born to late 80's, we hit every grade in school up through junior in college. Quite an eclectic group of us from all around, but all with roots to the area (except us). Learned alot (especially exactly what the neighborhood kids are up to, including ours, so that was kind of fun and funny--thankfully!). They are a really neat bunch of kids! Appears they are always looking out for the younger kids and older adults. Who'd a thunk??? The eveing was quick to set up, good food, great interactions, sweet light show and kind of warm and fuzzy written all over it! Next one is in September during the big festival...some more ambitious folks are thinking talent show...I'm thinking, relaxation and fun. Well, I guess if all I have to do is help set-up, watch and enjoy then tear down, then I guess I'd be doing ok. Hmmmm. This is one of those 'Life is darn good' moments...think I'll savor it some more! Wishing all of you some of these same moments!!! TTFN :-)
